This is the home of magnell.org. It is a typical personal web site containing bits and pieces of interest to the author that seemed worth posting for others to read.
This winter (2001-2002), I took a trip to New Zealand and bicycled the length of the South Island from Picton to Bluff. I kept a journal of my travels.
In late March of 2000, Ellen & I went to Australia, where I was attending the 47th IETF Meeting in Adelaide. After the conference, we took a couple of additional weeks and visited Kangaroo Island, off the south coast, Alice Springs, Kings Canyon and Uluru in the center and Sydney. Ellen put together a small photo site of some of our travels.
We moved to New Zealand in 2003 and lived on Waiheke Island for three years. At some point, a selection of our photos and travels will go here.
This winter (early 2007), I took a short trip to New Zealand and traveled by campervan (the Brawny Bongo) and did some daytrip cycling. I kept another journal and more photos.
This winter (early 2008), I am planning another trip to New Zealand to visit friends and to do another long bicycle tour. As in 2002, I am taking my bicycle and BOB trailer. The current plan, as fuzzy as it is, is to cycle much of the North Island. While the North Island does not have the big mountains, the landscape seems to have many more really steep hills, so it is unclear how far I will get.
